Shank Trailer Analysis

We as a group found this trailer very influential and will probably look back at this trailer for tips and how to lay out our basic trailer. What I found interesting about this trailer is that it gives away enough of the story line without taking away the main important parts of the story therefore leaving the audience wanting more. I also noticed how the trailer started of with showing the basic plot of the story of how his brother was about to get killed when his older brother comes to save him and instead, he is killed and his younger brother seeks out revenge. We also are told the time where the film takes place in the year 2015. We found that this is trailer is very influential and similar to the basic story line we have come up with as a group.

Analysis of Film Trailer - NOAH

The trailer begins with a very short clip of the main character ‘Noah’ waking up in a tent, the shot then jumps to a new scene where ‘Noah’ is waking towards the camera looking into the far distance. Immediately in this scene we hear winds which seem strong enough to blow back Noah’s hair, we then see Noah look down to the earth only to find that the dirt beneath his feet had turn to mud, possibly because of rain? As the trailer progresses, the audience become aware of the common, well know story of ‘Noah’ from the bible, as there is a montage of shots used near the beginning of the trailer, which shows a woman’s hand taking an apple from a tree (symbolising Eve taking the forbidden fruit). We also see a snake slithering in the grass (representing the devil/Satan). In the montage we also see a town burning in fire (representing the plagues God sent during the time of Moses) all these short clips gives the audience an insight on what the film is and what it can possibly be about. In another shot we see, what I assume to be Noah’s wife ask him “Noah, What did you see?” Noah replying “He’s going to destroy the world”, by making an assumption we would say he is referring to God as ‘he’ which suggests that God is going to destroy the world with a flood, as predicted. “The Creator will annihilate this world” says another character in a new shot. In another shot Noah says “A great flood is coming. We build a vessel to survive the storm” this is the final confirmation that this film will indeed be the famous known story of ‘Noah’. This being said many people will want to go and watch this film due to the story, so that they can see how the creators of the film, interpreted the story and to see how well they made it using special effects etc. As the trailer goes on, we soon hear, what sounds like heroic music which compliments the shots which are being presented. During the credits we see the name ‘Emma Watson’ as she will be globally recognised from playing her role in the famous Harry Potter films, many of her fans will go to watch the film. In the ending shot we see the Ark floating away from the camera in high seas, a good way to end the trailer. The Trailer finally ends with the logo of the film ‘NOAH’.
